Swissci High-Performance No Centrifuge Ultrafiltration Systems: Precision Protein Concentration & Buffer Exchange

Ultrafiltration is the separation process of macromolecular species and solvents based on their size. Achieve maximum protein recovery with Swissci Ultrafiltration (UF) systems, the global benchmark for laboratory clinical research and protein purification. Engineered with Swiss precision, our centrifugal concentrators and diafiltration tools address the two greatest challenges in the lab: non-specific binding and membrane fouling.

Precision Protein Concentration & Diafiltration

Removing the need for a centrifuge – Converse™ no centrifuge Ultrafiltration Devices have been designed for rapid and easy concentration and buffer exchange procedures.

The reverse direction of flow combined with the large membrane surface area leads to high processing speed and excellent sample recovery. With up to 150x concentration factor possible if desired.

No centrifuge is needed with Converse™ Devices as they can be run with specially designed Pressure Caps. The Pressure Cap results have been shown to be superior against devices run through a Centrifuge; increasing the concentration speed and factor.

SWISSCI Converse S and L Devices both come with specially selected membranes with MCWOs of 3, 10, 30 or 100kDa. Other cut offs are available upon request.

The Vertical Membrane Advantage

Unlike traditional horizontal filters that are prone to rapid clogging, Swissci UF systems utilise high-flux vertical membrane technology. This orientation minimises the accumulation of solutes on the membrane surface, significantly increasing filtration speed and ensuring a high-throughput workflow even with concentrated or “difficult” protein samples.

SWISSCI: Key Technical Features

  • Ultra-Low Binding Membranes: Manufactured using proprietary low-binding membranes (Polyethersulfone/PES and Regenerated Cellulose) to ensure protein recovery and minimise sample loss.

  • Integrated Dead-Stop Technology: Engineered to prevent samples from filtering to dryness. The “dead-stop” volume ensures your protein remains in a stable, concentrated state, protecting sensitive samples from denaturation.

  • Precision MWCO Range: Available in a wide variety of Molecular Weight Cut-Off (MWCO) options (3K, 10K, 30K, 50K, 100K) for precise separation of proteins, viral vectors, and nanoparticles.

  • Seamless Diafiltration & Dialysis: Designed for rapid buffer exchange and desalting. Transition from slow, traditional dialysis tubing to our high-speed centrifugal systems to save hours of lab time.

  • Automation-Ready Footprint: Fully compatible with standard laboratory centrifuges and high-throughput robotic workflows, maintaining the SBS/ANSI standards required for modern core facilities.

Applications in Structural Biology

Our UF systems are the preferred choice for researchers preparing samples for crystallisation and crystallization. By providing a uniform, concentrated sample free of aggregates, Swissci hardware ensures that your structural biology trials begin with the highest quality protein possible.

  • Desalting and Buffer Exchange

  • Protein Concentration for X-ray Diffraction

  • Purification of Antibodies and Viral Vectors

  • Removal of Detergents and Primers
